Fort Hood leaders host a TV town hall from 7-8 p.m. Nov. 24. Focus is an investigation update to the Nov. 5 incident, security of the installation and comprehensive health care support. Panel members are Lt. Gen. Bob Cone, III Corps and Fort Hood commander, Col. Bill Hill, Fort Hood's garrison commander, Col. Steve Braverman, CRDMC and other III Corps staff members. To all Mental Health Partners

Fort Hood is requesting to put out a call for more providers to join the Give an Hour network in Texas. The communities surrounding Fort Hood are in need of help. Please put a call out to your members to provide assistance. Register at www.giveanhour.org. Give an Hour is working with the State of Texas, the American Red Cross, the USO TexVet: Partners Across Texas and various other veterans service organizations to put mental health professionals to work helping in these communities and across the state.

  • The Veterans Administration is prepared to immediately assist all eligible veterans with emotional reactions in the aftermath of the Ft. Hood shootings. Events like this can activate/exacerbate symptoms of PTSD in combat veterans from the current or previous conflicts. Veterans who wish to receive crisis counseling should present to their nearest Veterans Administration Medical Center, Vet Center, or Community Outpatient Clinic for expedited mental health services. Veterans who may be having suicidal thoughts can call the National VA Suicide Hotline at anytime of the day or night (1-800-273-8255) to speak with a trained mental health counselor and arrange for immediate follow-up care with VA.
  • Resiliency Campus is now operating as the Fort Hood Grieving Center. The campus is located on 33rd and BN Ave, phone numbers (254) 553-2287/2284/2288. The Fort Hood Soldier Help Line is at (254) 553-3480 These two services are 24 hour and are available to help Soldiers and Family members.
