Psychological and Behavioral Conditions

This section provides information on conditions that affect soldiers and their families like PTSD and TBI.

What are my resources and how can I locate them?

Active Duty, National Guard and Reserve

Psychological health resources for active duty warriors can be accessed through your primary care physician or your base/installation medical facility through TRICARE. Citizen warriors who are not activated or mobilized should utilize their primary care physicians for referral to psychological health professional’s services through TRICARE. Reserve and National Guard members may be eligible for VA benefits under certain conditions.

Veterans

Most veterans are eligible for health care and other benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs. The exact benefits a veteran can receive depends on the time and location of service, disabilities and other health concerns incurred during service, and the veteran’s current income and assets. Additionally, there are federal, state and local resources available to address veteran’s psychological healthcare needs. For Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits call: 800-827-1000.
